Introducing SANCTUARY: ART AS CARE at MoAD

SANCTUARY places care at the center of the MoAD experience, inviting visitors to encounter art, themselves, and one another through attention, presence, and connection. Rooted in the belief that cultural engagement is essential to human flourishing, these programs create space for reflection, belonging, restoration, and renewal.
1-2 pm SANCTUARY | Play Rediscover play as a form of Black care through a guided tour of Dorian Reid’s Calling All Cats!. Through curiosity, humor, and imagination, we’ll explore how playful encounters with art can nurture joy, connection, and possibility.
From 2-4 pm, join us beginning in the Salon for MEOW! A Friday the 13th Protest with EAP Artist Dorian Reid for an afternoon of art making, collective action and Black Cat Power presented in conjunction with her Emerging Artist Program exhibition, Calling All Cats! Learn more and register HERE.
You will have free access to our current exhibitions: Dewey Crumpler: Sonic Lineages, After the Island: Ornament & Ceramic Practice in the Jamaican Diaspora, and Dorian Reid: Calling All Cats.
Museum of the African Diaspora and Kaiser Permanente are committed to increasing access to the positive health outcomes of arts engagement and providing resources on overall well-being for our community.
