Introducing SANCTUARY: ART AS CARE at MoAD

‍

‍

SANCTUARY places care at the center of the MoAD experience, inviting visitors to encounter art, themselves, and one another through attention, presence, and connection. Rooted in the belief that cultural engagement is essential to human flourishing, these programs create space for reflection, belonging, restoration, and renewal.

‍

12-3 pm | Family Art Activity in the First Floor Lobby inspired by our exhibitions with Teaching Artist Nicole Dixon.

‍

1-2 pm SANCTUARY | Gather Celebrate International Human Rights Day with us! Consider what it means to come together in collective action through an introduction to two works from the third-floor presentation of Sonic Lineages and two from After the Island: Ornament and Ceramic Practice in the Jamaican Diaspora. Facilitated group conversations will invite us to reflect on how shared purpose, responsibility, and care shape the communities we create.

‍

You will have free access to our current exhibitions: Dewey Crumpler: Sonic Lineages and After the Island: Ornament & Ceramic Practice in the Jamaican Diaspora.

‍

Museum of the African Diaspora and Kaiser Permanente are committed to increasing access to the positive health outcomes of arts engagement and providing resources on overall well-being for our community.
